School District Seeks to Install Video Surveillance on OB Turf Field

The Greater Victoria School District is seeking to install video surveillance on the all-weather turf field at Oak Bay High, following significant damage from unauthorized use and vandalism. To date, the damage is over $10,000.

The intended installation of the camera will face the field only and would be continually active but not actively monitored. Only appropriate facilities staff would have access to review footage to determine the cause of any specific incident. The surveillance will not be used to monitor players/students/children.

Prior to any installation, the District will be holding an information meeting on September 12, 2017 at 7PM at Oak Bay High School. The meeting is open to the public to allow for feedback and questions. If you cannot attend but have a question, please email David Loveridge at dloveridge@sd61.bc.ca.
