Bays United is proud to announce that 16-year-old Jose Javier Sagaste, has been selected to attend the 2018 generation adidas international Select program in Madrid, Spain this summer. The Select program is a premier international development opportunity for 17 elite Canadian soccer players, and an exclusive opportunity for players from Soccer Express, adidas partnered clubs to be hosted by one of the most recognizable teams in the world.
Javier was very happy upon hearing the news of his selection. “I am very proud to be part of something like this,” he said. “I’m excited to see the different calibre and technical ability of people my age and I hope to learn as much as I can to improve my own game.”
Javier will take part in training and competition at the internationally renowned Real Madrid Foundation from August 11-19, 2018. The program features training under professional Real Madrid Foundation coaches at the Real Madrid City training complex, and will include competition against local academy teams.
Eddie Mukahanana, Bays United Technical Director, recognized Javier’s talent early on. “Javier is a genetically gifted athlete, who puts in the time to train and work on his technical skills,” said Mukahanana. “He is also a great team player and a nice person. He is very deserving of this opportunity.”
