President Update: Fall 2019

Welcome all Bays players and families! I hope you are all enjoying the first few weeks of the 2019/20 soccer season. I am proud to share that Bays United is home to 1,600 players in our three leagues this year: House (U6-U11), Youth (U12-U18) and Adult (age 18+). We officially kicked off the season last Saturday, September 14th– and for some, it was a wet start, but what says ‘soccer season’ better than raincoats and umbrellas on the sidelines? Hopefully we will see more fair-weather game days as we head into the fall.

New General Manager:

This spring, members of the Bays board went through a recruitment process to fill the role of General Manager, following Darryl Hooker’s departure. I am happy to announce that John Bentley has been appointed to the role of General Manager for Bays. John has been a consistent figure with Bays for the past 5 years, as a board member and VP of the Youth League, a member on many oversight and operational committees, manager of his children’s teams and a reliable volunteer. As General Manager, John will work closely with Bays Program Administrator, Kari-Lynn Murphy, to lead all club operations and ensure that programs and activities are efficient, effective and meet the needs of members. I am confident that John’s financial and business background combined with his approachable and thoughtful leadership style will benefit the club and Lower Island Soccer. John can be reached via:

Photo Consents & General Information:

Photo consents are a tricky thing these days, when virtually everyone has a camera in his or her back pocket. We love to share photos of games, events and achievements on our social media channels and encourage parents and players to share them with usin good faith. If you have a concern about your child’s photo being taken/shared, please connect directly with your child’s coach so that he/she can notify team parents. Please also send an email to so that we are aware.

Whether you are new to the club or a returning player/family, you can find useful information on our website and I also encourage you to follow our social media channels for event posts, announcements and club news. Follow baysunited on Facebook and @baysunitedfc on Instagram.

Bays is run primarily on the strength of our volunteers. We couldn’t do it without them and are so thankful for their commitment to youth soccer. Watch for notices and calls for help throughout the season and please consider volunteering your time with Bays. We are all stronger together.

I hope everyone has a great season and enjoys the games, skill development and fun. We are always open to hearing your suggestions and feedback, so drop us a line.
