Bays United FC offers a variety of training opportunities to help players refine their techniques, learn new skills and concepts – and expand their love of the game.

  • PROGRAMS: Multi-week and annual opportunities for players of all ages and levels
  • ACADEMIES: Season-long programs to enhance skill development and tactical play
  • CAMPS: Single-day and short-term opportunities on Pro-D days and holidays
  • CLINICS: One-day skill-specific sessions designed to help players develop specific techniques

Little Kickers – (Girls and Boys U5)

This high-energy program will introduce your child to the joy of soccer. In a light-hearted environment, players will be taught dribbling, shooting and passing fundamentals. This dynamic program encourages creativity and skills through game play, fun time and positive reinforcement.

After School Super Soccer (Girls and Boys U6 – U8)

This introduction to soccer strikes the perfect balance between building soccer skills and just having fun. Building confidence and fostering the joy in playing sport is the objective. Program Dynamics:

  • Progression of soccer skills of dribbling and passing
  • Motivation of players with “bite-size” and positive coaching strategies
  • Engagement and learning through challenges of small game play
  • Development of generalized sport skills such as balance, change of pace and change of direction will be experienced

FUNdamentals (Girls and Boys U6 – U7)

High-energy sessions featuring minor games and “bite-sized” positive instruction are designed to facilitate learning and inject with fun. The physical curriculum emphasizes the ABCs of movement: agility, balance, co-ordination and speed. Technical instruction is introduced through movement, exercises and games that promote an awareness for the ball. Skills such as gaining ball control in receiving passes, dribbling, passing less than 25m, kicking the ball forward, and shooting on goal are a focus of this program.

ACADEMIES

Learn to Train (Girls and Boys U9 – U10)

The golden age of learning. This Academy is designed to teach basic principles of play and to establish a training ethic and discipline. Repetitions are important to develop technical excellence, but creating a fun and challenging environment is essential for stimulating learning. Developmentally, the players at the U9 and U10 age levels are in an optimal window for trainability of speed, flexibility and skills. Physical training will focus on developing these qualities. The technical training focuses on building a greater repertoire of soccer related movements (ex. step over, fake pass, single hook), within the context of basic soccer games. The tactical training component is designed to develop field awareness and encourage decision-making.

Training to Train (Girls and Boys U11 – U12)

The physical and mental demands of skill training as well as training loads increase at this age. This program is designed to enable improvement in mental toughness, concentration and diligence. An awareness of tactics within the game becomes an important facet of the learning process. Physicality, flexibility, and agility, as well as a disciplined aerobic and anaerobic endurance, and core strength will be stressed. The technical component introduces more advanced techniques in a more complex environment and field position specific skills are introduced. The tactical component emphasizes the importance of the roles of (defensive, midfield or forward unit) through strategic teamwork plays and the positional awareness through small-sided games and competitive matches.

Goalkeeper Academy (U10 – U18)

Goalkeeper training focuses on the four major components of goalkeeping: technical, tactical, psychological and physical training. Goalkeeper Academy training sessions are challenging and fast-paced to replicate in-game situations.

Premier Performance Program (Girls and Boys U13 – U18)

This Premier Performance program provides girls and boys born in 2001 – 2006, with extra training in a competitive environment. Players at all levels are encouraged to participate in this development program. These sessions are coached by members of Bays United’s Technical Team.

CAMPS

PRO-D Day Camps (Girls and Boys U6 – U13)

Here is a great opportunity for your soccer enthusiast to spend their Pro-D day improving their soccer skills, being active and having fun with friends. Our Technical Director, Eddie Mukahanana, and his team of highly qualified technical coaches will be on hand to lead players.

  • When: Friday, November 23, 2018
  • Open to: Boys & Girls U6 (2013) to U13 (2006)
  • Time: Full Day 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM; Half Day 8:30 AM – 12 PM
  • Where: Oak Bay High Turf (Oak Bay High School Gym is also used on Nov 23rd)
